Kami dah apply to rent a house with Bradford & Bingley. Dah bayar 40 pnd to to check credit history. Tiba-tiba landlady tak agree kami rent rumah dia.... alasan ada anak kecik + Malaysian. So skang ni agent tu takde rumah lain yg kami suka. Dah sah 40 pnd tak dapat balik sebab bukan dapat kat agent tu.
So kalau nak sewa dengan agent kena tanya landlord dulu la kot before bayar apa2.
Agaknya yang beliau sebut Malaysian tu kami ke... ??? Rumah yang kami sewa dulu dahlah karpetnya berbau rokok, dapur masak asyik terbakar fius je (penat jugak en Jazni dulu datang rumah)...lampu mentol asyik terbakar je kena tukar la apa lagi...
lepas tu kalau tidur bilik tidur utama anak perempuan saya asyik menangis je bila larut malam ...tunjuk -tunjuk dekat dinding...seram...ke tak seram...
Bila sebulan nak keluar dari rumah tu ada la dua iga budak nakal lontar batu dekat rumah...
secebis pengalaman untuk di kongsi...

I pun pernah mencari rumh thru agent Reedsrain lagi mahal daripada you (£75).
Memang ada profile kat agent tu or landlord list of requirements ttg ciri2 penyewa yg dikehendaki(Kita sbg penyewa kena be honest with them). Memang tanggungjwb agent utk cari rumah yg sesuai dengan penyewa.
In your case I rasa it's not about "malaysian", it's about anak. Memang ramai british landlord tak suka family with anak. Berdasarkan drp pengalaman I setelah sekian lama duduk off campus, rata2 british landlord yg I jumpa baik2 belaka dan tidak ada memandang serong terhadap malaysian. Pelik gak why u tak dapat balik £40 sedangkan agent gagal carikan rumah untuk u or diaorg ada terms and conditions yg lain? In my case lepas I bayar fee (£75) , next few days,I pergi view rumah tu dengan agent and after that I called her and decide tak nak rumah tu and the fee was refund without any hassle.
Assalammualaikum Edaro aka buah nangka bersarung cempedak and others,
contrary to your belief, wahai miss Jack Fruit, not all Malaysians are mata duitan. And i would like to clear this up so that the new comers won't get bad impression about us here, that non of us, to my knowledge, has ever received any monetary benefit from helping fellow malaysians to find their accomodation. I have been here for nearly 7 years, i have never heard anyone asking for commission or whatsoever. Kalau jemput makan later tu, that is atas budi bicara that person le. In fact, a lot of us had to use our own money (travelling around and phone calls) to look for houses for new comers etc. And we have been trying our best to ensure that we get the best accomodation for them. To my chagrin, sometimes, these new comers are the ones who don't appreciate what we had to go through for them. (I have said it, so what?)
Gill is my friend who happenned to be looking for a tenant, and Suzie and Ujang are my friends who were looking for an accomodation, so the arrangement was perfect for them. I was there because i believe Allah wants me to be there, and it is Suzie and ujang's rezeki, not mine (they get 425 pounds rent, instead of 470, because their timing was right, and it is their rezeki, maybe because since Gill knows me well, but still if she had gone to the agent, nothing could be done about the rent, so it is basically suzie's and ujang's rezeki. Full stop). Lagi satu, i have offered Gill's flat to others before i knew ujang was looking for one, but they didn't seem to be interested. I know how hard it is to find a good accomodation, esp. the one whose landlord has no problem with children and close to the uni. That's why, after 7 years here, i am not really keen to offer my help, unless i have been asked.
You bila nak ambil gambar petik apple kat belakang rumah Gill tu? The bad weather also means that apples won't stay there for long.

Sebab baca kat term & cond that the money is NON-REFUNDABLE tapi lepas tanya rupa2nya boley dapat balik sebab salah agent yang tak tau/bagitau kami awal2.
Lucky you.... kami memang di'offer' tapi sebab harga asal diluar bajet kami jadi kami pun tak interested. Camna boley dapat diskaun tu ek? 45 pnd sebulan BANYAK TU...
Terima Kasih. Really appreciate all the effort.
BTW kami pun dah dapat rumah dah...... ALHAMDULILLAH
when i offered the house to 'other' people, i did mention that the price was negotiable, but it all depended on whether or not one was interested to ask or not. But some people, they asked you to find houses for them, and then they kept quiet, no call, no email. There is nothing wrong with one saying like 'sorry le, rumah tu luar budget' or 'I have found an accomodation, so no thank you', at least we know that one is not interested, and for a valid reason too. At least, kita pun tak beria-ia membuang masa menunggu jawapan, and we don't need to keep telling the landlord this and that. At the end we only had to ASSUME that one was not interested.
This happens almost every year, and people start talking behind one's back, which is not islamic. This is an issue that needs to be properly addressed. So, jangan kata orang lama tak nak tolong, cuma we need people to at least co-operate with us, understand that this country has a different law and culture when it comes to tenancy agreement, and we have our own life to live and work to do. We all understand students' budget, and nothing to be embarrassed or kept secret about, cuma a phone call or an email to keep us well inform will be great, so that we can move on,and offer it to other people. For me, that's what i call tak mengenang budi.
enough said, the 'old' student will be leaving, the new one will take over the responsibility, only when one experiences the same situation year in year out that one can only appreciate our grievances. So, good luck, cause i know you will need it.
